The Punjab Government is set to enlarge Lahore’s metro train network with the introduction of the Blue and Purple Line Metro Train services.

Estimated to cost Rs14.5 trillion, these new projects represent an important investment, including nearly half of the total budget payable for the province.

The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has forwarded proposals for both the Blue and Purple Line Train Projects to the Punjab government for approval. The formulation of PC-1 for these mega projects will commence upon the Punjab government’s endorsement.

Documents reveal that a inclusive update on the cost and arrangement of the Blue and Purple Line projects was arranged for Chief Minister Punjab, Maryam Nawaz, and her Cabinet.

The Purple Line Metro Train project, estimated at around 577 billion rupees, is designed to span 16 kilometers between the airport and Bhati Chowk, about 16 stations. It is expected that 250,000 citizens will utilize this route daily.
