The Excise and Taxation Department in Punjab is getting tough on vehicles that haven’t paid their taxes.
They’re starting the process to cancel registrations for those who’ve not paid taxes for three or more years, possibly affecting over a thousand vehicles by Eid ul Fitr. Warning stickers will be put on these vehicles, and owners will get reminders to pay their dues.
The department is also sending reminders to a million more vehicle owners via text message to pay their token taxes. They’re especially keeping an eye on bank-leased vehicles, which sometimes don’t pay taxes on time despite collecting installments.
Vehicle owners who don’t pay up might find their vehicles stopped until they settle their dues.
The department urges everyone to pay their taxes on time and make sure their vehicles are properly registered before driving.
