COAS Gen Munir says no deal with planners and characters of dark chapter of May 9

LAHORE: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir on Thursday visited Lahore Garrison and laid flowers on the martyrs’ memorial and paid tribute to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the motherland.

On this occasion, the Army Chief was given a detailed briefing on the operational preparations of the formation.

Addressing the garrison officers at the Corps Headquarters, the Army Chief appreciated the officers and Jawans for their service to the nation and their professionalism.

There can be no compromise and no deal with the planners and characters of such mentality who created this dark chapter of history, Army Chief.

Those innocent people who could not understand the nefarious political objectives of these criminal elements were made fuel by the planners for their desires, said the Army Chief.

These deluded people have already been given benefit of doubt on Supreme Court’s directives, he observed.

However, the main leaders of this dastardly project, who claim to be innocent, will now have to account for their crimes, especially when there is clear evidence of their involvement, the COAS said.

The COAS emphasized, “The enemy forces and their patrons are doing digital terrorism through lies, fake news and propaganda and are trying hard to create a divide between the armed forces and the people of Pakistan, but with the support of the nation, all these forces are thwarted.” will be made”.

Gen Munir also emphasized, “Every soldier and officer of the Pakistan Army puts his duties and responsibilities first and sacrifices on a daily basis regardless of any other commitment or preference.”

He said, “May 9 will undoubtedly remain a dark day in the history of Pakistan when deliberate miscreants desecrated the memorials of the martyrs and attacked the symbols of the state and national unity.”

Due to these violent and heinous acts, the enemies of Pakistan have been given an opportunity to make a mockery of the state and the nation, Army Chief said.

The Army Chief lamented that; “Now the same conspiratorial elements are brazenly twisting the narrative and trying to implicate the state in this nefarious attempt.”

He assured the officers and soldiers, “No one will be allowed to desecrate the martyrs and their families or the institution, the planners, facilitators and criminals of May 9 will be brought to justice according to the law of the land”

Not responding to daily provocations in this regard should not be considered as our weakness and our patience as unlimited, he added.

The Army Chief said, “We as a constructive force are rekindling the sanctity of the leader by building this public library on the piles of ashes and debris created by the destructive forces.”

Later, the Army Chief also inaugurated the Jinnah Library in Lahore Garrison.

Earlier, on the arrival of the Army Chief, Corps Commander Lahore welcomed him.
