Several flights cancelled from Karachi Airport due to rain
Light rain around Karachi airport has caused major flight disruptions, with the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) grounding smaller planes due to safety concerns. The rainy season has worsened flying conditions for smaller aircraft, leading to low visibility, and impacting airport operations. As a result, several domestic and international flights have been cancelled.
According to airport sources, 16 outbound flights from both domestic and international airlines have been affected. Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) cancelled six flights, including PK 503 to Gwadar, PK 731 to Jeddah, PK 536 to Sukkur, PK 306 to Lahore, PK 340 to Faisalabad, and PK 310 to Quetta.
Other airlines have also faced disruptions. AirSial canceled three flights: PF 121 to Islamabad, and PF 143 and PF 145 to Lahore. Serene Air also cancelled three flights: ER 504 to Islamabad, and ER 522 and ER 524 to Lahore.
International flights have not been spared. Al Jazeera Air’s flight 5096 to Baku, Iran Air’s flight 813 to Tehran, and Qatar Air’s flight QR 611 to Doha were all cancelled. Fly Jinnah also cancelled its flights 852 to Quetta and 672 to Islamabad.
Passengers are advised to stay informed about their flight status and exercise patience as the CAA implements safety measures during this weather disturbance.
