Karachi: A devastating road accident near Kathore on the Super Highway has claimed 14 lives, including children, men, and women, while several others remain under treatment.
According to rescue officials, the tragic collision occurred near Ansari Bridge when a speeding passenger bus reportedly entered the road from the wrong direction and crashed head-on into an oil tanker coming from the opposite side. The impact was so severe that multiple other vehicles were also struck, causing extensive damage.
Initially, rescue authorities and the SSP Malir reported that 14 people had died at the scene. However, only 13 bodies were transported to the hospital and morgue, leading officials to temporarily confirm the death toll at 13.
Later, a three-year-old child identified as Imran, son of Aamir, who had sustained critical injuries in the crash, succumbed to his injuries during treatment at Civil Hospital. With his passing, the total number of fatalities has risen to 14.
Rescue sources confirmed that the bodies of 12 deceased individuals were sent to Kotri. More than five injured victims are still receiving medical treatment, with some reported to be in critical condition.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident, and preliminary reports suggest that reckless driving and violation of traffic rules may have contributed to the deadly crash.
