Cement deliveries surge by 3.85% in March 2024. Total cement deliveries reach 3.941 million tons compared to 3.795 million tons in the same period last fiscal year.

According to data from the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA), local cement deliveries for March 2024 hit 3.336 million tons, slightly down by 0.62% from 3.357 million tons in March 2023.

Exports witness a significant rise of 38.02%, with volumes increasing from 438,433 tons in March 2023 to 605,142 tons in March 2024.

In March 2024, northern mills dispatch 2.866 million tons of cement, up by 1.6% from 2.821 million tons in March 2023. Southern mills dispatch 1.074 million tons, marking a 10.37% increase from 0.974 million tons in March 2023.

Domestic dispatches from northern mills in March 2024 increase by 0.76%, reaching 2.742 million tons compared to 2.721 million tons in March 2023. Southern mills dispatch 594,487 tons locally, a decrease of 6.52% from 635,959 tons in March 2023.

Exports from northern mills surge by 24.14%, reaching 124,672 tons in March 2024 compared to 100,431 tons in March 2023. Southern mills witness a 42.15% increase in exports, reaching 480,470 tons compared to 338,002 tons in March 2023.

During the first nine months of the current fiscal year, total cement deliveries reach 34.502 million tons, up by 2.68% compared to the same period last fiscal year. Domestic deliveries decrease by 3.81% to 29.401 million tons, while exports surge by 68.03% to 5.101 million tons.

Northern mills witness a 3.24% reduction in domestic deliveries to 24.236 million tons during July-March 2024 compared to the same period in 2023. Exports from the north increase by 33.62% to 1.040 million tons during the same period.

Total deliveries from northern mills decrease by 2.13% to 25.277 million tons during the first nine months of the current financial year.

Southern mills witness a 6.38% reduction in domestic deliveries to 5.164 million tons during July-March 2024 compared to the same period in the previous fiscal year. Exports from the south increase by 79.9% to 4.06 million tons during the same period.

Total deliveries from southern mills increase by 18.68% to 9.225 million tons during the first nine months of the current financial year.

An APCMA spokesperson mentions that cement units have expanded their capacities in anticipation of increased construction activities in the country, although operating at full capacity remains a distant goal.
