Six of a family killed in Lahore’s Defence accident

Six members of the same family were killed in a tragic car accident in the Defence Phase 7 area of Lahore late on Saturday night.

According to the police, Rafaqat Ali and his family, on their way back to their residence in Shadab Colony on Ferozepur Road after visiting his daughter’s in-laws, experienced a collision between two cars near Defence Phase 7.

The impact left six members of Rafaqat Ali’s family, including two infants, critically injured.

Despite being promptly transferred to Lahore General Hospital, all the injured individuals, unfortunately, succumbed to their injuries during treatment.

The deceased victims have been identified as Rukhsana (52), Anabia (3), Huzaifa (four months), Muhammad Hasnain (28), Sajjad (26), and Ayesha (22).

In connection to the tragic incident, the police arrested the driver, Afnan Shafqat, whose alleged negligence, over-speeding, and reckless driving were deemed responsible for the accident.

A case has been registered against him, and the vehicle involved in the collision has been seized.

Expressing condolences over the fatalities, Caretaker Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi has called for a detailed report on the accident.

Additionally, he has directed legal action against the driver found to be at fault in this heartbreaking incident.
