ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi arrived in Tehran on Wednesday for high-level discussions with Iranian officials focused on ongoing efforts to revive indirect talks between the United States and Iran.
According to Iranian media, Naqvi held talks with Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni and also met Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Commander-in-Chief General Ahmad Vahidi.
The meetings were held at Iran’s Interior Ministry headquarters, where officials discussed bilateral cooperation and the evolving security situation in the region.
The visit comes as Islamabad continues its diplomatic push to help reduce tensions and support stalled negotiations aimed at de-escalating conflicts in the Middle East.
Officials and media reports said Naqvi is expected to review recent developments in backchannel communications between Washington and Tehran, as Pakistan expands its mediation efforts in the region.
Pakistan has been involved in behind-the-scenes diplomacy in recent months, helping facilitate communication between the two sides amid rising regional tensions and intermittent ceasefire efforts.
The Tehran visit follows Naqvi’s earlier trip last week, during which he met senior Iranian leaders, including President Masoud Pezeshkian, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, and parliamentary speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf.

Earlier, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi arrived in Tehran on an official visit, where he was warmly received at Imam Khomeini International Airport by Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni.
At Imam Khomeini International Airport, Iran’s Interior Minister Iskandar Momeni was present to receive him. Senior officials from Iran’s Interior Ministry and Pakistan’s Ambassador to Iran, Muhammad Mudassir Tipu, were also present on this occasion.
Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi held a meeting with his Iranian counterpart in which they exchanged views on matters of mutual interest and Pakistan-Iran relations.
Iskandar Momeni said that he warmly welcomes his brother to Iran from the depths of his heart. He added that this visit will certainly help strengthen Pakistan-Iran relations.
