FIA Peshawar Zone on Tuesday arrested six suspects involved in hawala-hundi, the sale of counterfeit medicines, and fake currencies.

The crackdown was carried out by Anti-Corruption Peshawar, Composite Circle Abbottabad, and Mardan, all under the jurisdiction of the FIA.

Significant amounts of currency worth millions of rupees have been recovered from the accused individuals.

The arrested suspects have been identified as Sher Zaman, Mohiuddin, Yasad Khan, Muslim Zaheer, Sulaiman Khan, and Samiullah.

They were apprehended in various areas, including Abbottabad, Malakand, Upper Dir, and Mardan.

Among the detainees, Sher Zaman and Mohiuddin Pasha are accused of engaging in illegal currency exchange activities, with the FIA reporting the recovery of more than rupees 3 million and 500 Saudi riyals from their possession.

Additionally, receipts related to the hawala-hundi transactions were also found in the possession of the accused.

Furthermore, it was revealed that the accused were operating currency exchange businesses without proper licensing.

The remaining individuals, Yasad Khan, Muslim Zaheer, Sulaiman Khan, and Samiullah, were involved in the illicit sale of fake and substandard medicines.

A case has been registered against them in the Anti-Corruption Circle Peshawar, and investigations are currently underway.
