The two sides also exchanged views on regional and international developments, reaffirming their shared commitment to maintaining close coordination on matters of mutual interest and promoting stability, connectivity, and sustainable development in the region.
A major highlight of the visit was the prime minister’s participation in high-level commemorative events marking the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China, a milestone reflecting the enduring nature of ties often described by both countries as an “iron-clad friendship” and an example of mutual trust.
During these engagements both sides reiterated their resolve to further strengthen bilateral relations and expand cooperation in emerging sectors, while emphasizing the importance of continued people-to-people exchanges and institutional partnerships.
The visit also resulted in the signing of several agreements and memorandums of understanding (MoUs) across a broad spectrum of sectors aimed at enhancing practical cooperation between the two countries.
The accords covered areas including economy, trade, agriculture, food security, environment and climate change, science and technology, education, media cooperation, and counterterrorism, reflecting both countries’ intention to broaden the scope of engagement beyond traditional areas of partnership.
Officials said the agreements are expected to contribute toward enhanced institutional collaboration, greater economic coordination, and stronger bilateral connectivity, while opening new avenues for investment, innovation, and development cooperation.
Prime Minister Shehbaz’s visit comes at a time when Pakistan and China continue to strengthen strategic engagement amid evolving regional dynamics, with both countries reaffirming their commitment to safeguarding shared interests and further deepening their long-standing partnership.
The visit is also being viewed as an important step in reinforcing diplomatic momentum between Islamabad and Beijing, particularly as both sides seek closer cooperation in economic modernization, regional integration, and long-term development initiatives.
