The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) of Punjab on Saturday arrested 14 terrorists during several operations across the province.
A major breakthrough was achieved with the apprehension of a high-ranking commander from both the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Jamaat-ul-Harr in Lahore, as confirmed by the CTD spokesman.
The operation, aimed at addressing terrorism fears, unfolded in cities such as Lahore, Khushab, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Bahawalpur, Toba Tek Singh, Gujarat, and Sahiwal.
During the operation, authorities seized a significant amount of explosives from the terrorists, including hand grenades, an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) bomb, a detonator, 15 safety fuses, a Prima Card, mobile phones, and cash.
The identified terrorists, including Ansar, Waheed, Saad Habib, Abdul Salam Qamar, Ascetic, Good Religion Usman, Ali Akbar, Bilal, and others, were allegedly planning to launch attacks on key installations.
In addition to the IBOs, 588 combing operations carried out during the week led to the arrest of 79 suspects. A total of 25,360 individuals were interrogated during these operations.
The CTD emphasized its commitment to ensuring a safer Punjab, with officials expressing determination to eliminate the scourge of terrorism.
