Deborah James, a cancer activist, has been awarded Damehood by Queen Elizabeth

Deborah James has been awarded a Damehood by the Queen as she continues to generate funds for her charity despite her declining health.

“The Queen has been pleased to approve that the honour of Damehood be conferred upon Deborah James,” according to a statement.

Prince William and Kate Middleton wrote Deboarh a personal note yesterday, urging people to donate to her organisation.

The royal couple also contributed.

Earlier, Prince Elizabeth II will be absent from a critical event in very nearly 50 years. Buckingham Palace expressed in an articulation only one day before the conventional State Opening of Parliament on May 10 — an occasion that the Queen would normally join in, that the 96-year-old sovereign should miss.
