Prince William, Kate Middleton updates new titles on social media
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been replaced on Instagram by...
Kate Middleton and Princess Diana
With the death of Queen Elizabeth II, Kate Middleton has gained considerable status. Kate now has the title of Princess of Wales, a position previously held by Diana, after her husband Prince William assumed the first place in line for the throne.
Charles and Diana maintained the titles of Prince and Princess of Wales during the whole 70 years that the Queen served as the head of state of the United Kingdom.
Even after becoming the Princess of Wales through her marriage to Charles, Camilla chose not to use the title out of respect for the mother-of-two.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge got their titles reaffirmed on Friday during King Charles III’s speech to the nation.
“As my Heir, William now assumes the Scottish titles which have meant so much to me.
“He succeeds me as Duke of Cornwall and takes on the responsibilities for the Duchy of Cornwall which I have undertaken for more than five decades.
“Today, I am proud to create him Prince of Wales, Tywysog Cymru, the country whose title I have been so greatly privileged to bear during so much of my life and duty.
“With Catherine beside him, our new Prince and Princess of Wales will, I know, continue to inspire and lead our national conversations, helping to bring the marginal to the centre ground where vital help can be given”.
