Meghan and Harry marked absent from Oprah Winfrey’s birthday celebration
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were noticeably absent from Oprah Winfrey's birthday...
A royal title for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s children Archie and Lilibet “must be earned,” according to a source.
Following the death of the late Queen, the Sussex children moved up the line of succession, and as the grandchildren of the new monarch, King Charles, they have the right to be referred to as prince/princess and have HRH status.
However, no official announcement of their titles has been made since their accession to the throne almost five months ago.
Since Charles’ accession, Harry and Meghan have caused a stir with the release of their contentious six-part Netflix docuseries, in which they make several allegations against the Royal Family, including that the King lied during the so-called Sandringham Summit.
In addition, last month, Harry released his much-anticipated memoir Spare, which was also harshly critical of his father and revealed details about highly private conversations and moments between the royals.
According to a source, this has influenced the decision on Archie and Lilibet’s titles.
“The matter of titles is still up in the air,” they told Vanity Fair.
“The feeling is that the titles need to be earned. The royals need to know that they can trust Harry and Meghan not to keep damaging the reputation of the family.”
According to a source, Charles wants Harry and Meghan to attend his coronation later this year, and he may offer them several incentives to do so.
His Majesty is said to have approached Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby about a potential deal that would allow his younger son and daughter-in-law to attend despite the recent fallout from Harry’s memoir Spare.
