After missing the whole Six Nations due to an ankle injury, Owen Farrell was included in a 36-man England training squad on Tuesday ahead of a tour to Australia.

The 30-year-old, who was England’s captain, has had ankle surgery twice this season, but the fly-half/center has since proven his fitness and form with Saracens.

Henry Arundell, a young London Irish full-back who has scored seven tries in 12 senior appearances for the club, is one of the ten uncapped players in the squad.

In London Irish’s Challenge Cup quarter-final loss to Toulon earlier this month, Arundell scored one of the season’s best tries, sprinting the length of the pitch and slaloming his way past five defenders.

Several veteran players were left out, including Ben Youngs, Jamie George, and Henry Slade, but Jones stated that those who were not chosen may still play against Australia.

“We’re going to use this camp as an opportunity to prepare a base game for the Barbarians fixture and for a really important Australia tour,” said England coach Eddie Jones.

“It is also 16 months to the World Cup and every minute counts.”

On June 19, England hosts the Barbarians in a non-cap international at Twickenham before heading to Australia for three Tests against the Wallabies, beginning July 2 in Perth.

Since former Australia coach Jones took over following the 2015 World Cup, England has won all eight Tests against the Wallabies.
