Qatar will be the first country in the Middle East to host the FIFA World Cup. The Gulf nation is also the tournament’s second Asian host country, after Korea and Japan in 2002.

Due to the country’s extremely hot weather, this is the first World Cup to be held in the winter. The decision was taken because European players would find it difficult to endure such hot weather.

The 2022 FIFA World Cup is scheduled from November 21 to December 18. It is said to be the most expensive FIFA World Cup in history.

Even though the event is planned for winter, temperatures in Qatar during the day remain high. According to NBC, Qatar has spent $200 billion on infrastructure, including air conditioning in every stadium.

The organizers and Qatar have agreed that liquor drinking will be allowed in a few “tourist zones.”

During the World Cup, the Hamad International Airport is expected to receive around 1,300 daily flights.

The World Cup will be held in eight stadiums and will include 32 teams.
