Barcelona beat Mallorca in La Liga to break a streak of three consecutive home defeats in all competitions.
Barca had never lost four consecutive games at the Nou Camp before, and goals from Memphis Depay and Sergio Busquets meant that history would be avoided.
Depay opened the scoring after intercepting Jordi Alba’s pass, and Busquets increased the lead from outside the penalty box after the intermission.
With 10 minutes remaining, Antonio Raillo drew one back for the visitors.
The Mallorca skipper tucked in a free-kick from Salva Sevilla with his knee, but the visitors never threatened to equalize.
With four games remaining, Xavi’s side has climbed to second place in the rankings, 15 points behind champions Real Madrid and two points ahead of third-placed Sevilla.
Mallorca are now 16th in the table, one point above the relegation zone.
