“Nacho always makes you think twice when picking the line-up”: Ancelotti

Carlo Ancelotti, the manager of Real Madrid, has heaped praise on Nacho Fernandez, claiming that the defender always makes him reconsider his starting eleven.

After Real Madrid’s 1-1 draw away at Cadiz on Sunday evening, Ancelotti spoke to the media, but the focus was on the Champions League final rather than the draw.

Eder Militao did not have a good game, thus Ancelotti was asked if similar performances from the seasoned center-back would make him reassess his starting lineup.

“A player like Nacho always makes you think twice when picking the line-up,” the Italian coach said in a post-match press conference.

“He’s not the only one, as you have doubts over the line-up for every match here at Real Madrid. There is a full squad and not just 11 players.”

When asked if Fede Valverde and Rodrygo Goes will start against Liverpool in the Champions League final, Ancelotti said:

“Maybe they’ll start, or maybe, they won’t, but they will definitely play. Valverde needs to make the most of his long shot, which he has been doing more in recent matches. I think it’s good for him and us for him to try shooting more.”
