Jonny Bairstow describes Test cricket as “a basic game that we complicate” after smashing a 95-ball century to rescue England from 55 for 6 at Headingly.
Bairstow batted with England 17-3 after Trent Boult’s new-ball burst. Joe Root edged Tim Southee behind to leave them 21 for 4. This brought in Ben Stokes, with whom Bairstow had contributed 179 in 20.1 overs in the second Test.
