Since 2012, the Women’s Asia Cup has been played in a T20 format. Although the 2012 edition featured eight teams divided into two groups and semifinal matches, the most recent iterations (2016 and 2018) featured fewer competitors and only the top two teams competing in the championship match.
Malaysia and the UAE, who qualified through the ACC Women’s T20 Championship, will be competing among six-time champion India, hosts Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Thailand. On Tuesday, ACC President Jay Shah tweeted the complete schedule.
Bangladesh will host women’s matches for the first time since 2018. All games are scheduled to be played in Sylhet at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium and Sylhet Outer Cricket Stadium. The hosts, Bangladesh, are also the defending winners after defeating India in a nail-biting final in 2018. Due to the pandemic, the 2020 edition could not be held.
