Azhar Ali teammates gave him a guard of honour as he walked off the field for the last time during the third Test against England in Karachi.

Spinner Jack Leach got rid of the veteran batter without him making a single run in his last test.

As Azhar went back to the pavilion, the England players, including captain Ben Stokes, congratulated him on the field.

Azhar was one of Pakistan’s best batters. In 97 games, he scored 7,142 runs.

The right-hander has scored the fifth most runs for Pakistan in Tests, after Younis Khan (10,099), Javed Miandad (8,832), Inzamam-ul-Haq (8,829), and Mohammad Yousuf (8,829). (7,530).

In 2010, Azhar made his Test debut in England against Australia at Lord’s. He was 25 years old at the time. In his second Test match, he got his first fifty.

During his career, he had 35 half-centuries and 19 times where he scored more than 100 runs.

The 37-year-old also led Pakistan in nine Tests from 2016 to 2020, during two separate stints.

Azhar, who is 37 years old, is the only Pakistani batter to have hit a triple century in a pink-ball test. He did this against the West Indies in Dubai in 2016. That score of 302 without being beaten is still his best in Test cricket.

Azhar stopped playing one-day internationals in 2018, a year after helping Pakistan win the ICC Champions Trophy in 2017.

In that tournament, Azhar got 50 against India, 9 against South Africa, 34 against Sri Lanka, 76 against England in the semi-final, and 59 against England in the final (vs. India in the final).
