Teenage sensation Rehan Ahmed said Monday that “to get Babar Azam out is a dream come true.” His heroics helped England win the third Test against Pakistan and complete a record-clean sweep.

Mohammad Rizwan, the captain of Pakistan and a key player, was one of the people Ahmed got out on day three. His spin bowling changed the game for England.

The 18-year-old beat Australia’s Pat Cummins’ record of being the youngest man to take five wickets in a single inning in his first Test match.

“It was probably the best day of my life again. To get a five-for on debut is a dream come true,” Ahmed told the BBC.

“I have bowled better balls and not got wickets. To get Babar Azam out is a dream come true. He is a very good player.

“I liked the Rizwan wicket because I have been working hard on my leg spin for the last two months with bowling coach Jeetan Patel. To get one to spin a little bit was great.”

In the second innings, England bowled Pakistan out for 216 runs. Now, England needs to score 167 runs to win.

Later on Tuesday, they will start again at 112-2, needing 55 runs to win the Test and become the first test team to win all three matches in Pakistan. They have already done this in Rawalpindi and Multan, where they won the first two tests.

Abrar Ahmed finally gave Pakistan the lead when he caught Zak Crawley in front of the wickets. This came after the opening pair quickly scored 93 runs. The right-handed batter got a run-a-ball 41 by hitting seven fours.

Ahmed was sent in as a night watchman. After scoring 10 runs, he became Abrar’s second wicket.

Ben Duckett and Ben Stokes were still unbeaten at the end of the game, with 50 and 10 runs, respectively.

Pakistan’s second-innings score of 216 gave England a target of 167 runs to beat in order to win the third and last Test.

The captain, Babar Azam, got 54 points, and Saud Shakeel got 53.

During the second innings of the match, Babar became the first Pakistani to score 1,000 Test runs in a calendar year in six years. He was also the fourth player to reach this milestone in 2022.

He is the sixth Pakistani batter to reach 1,000 runs in a year. He did so when he got to 45 runs in an inning that ended with 54 runs.

Babar and Shakeel contributed 110 runs for the fourth wicket to put Pakistan in a good position, but Babar’s dismissal at 164 triggered a collapse, and Pakistan was bowled out for 216.

Pakistan’s second innings ended with seven wickets and 52 runs.

Despite Babar’s good form, Pakistan might be whitewashed 3-0 at home.
