After day three of the third Test match at the National Bank Cricket Arena in Karachi on Monday, former England captain and current commentator Nasser Hussain praised Pakistan as a “wonderful cricketing nation.”

The hosts were dismissed for 216 runs in their second innings of the third Test, setting a target of 167 runs.

Thanks to openers Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett’s strong start, England had scored 112-2 by the time play ended.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed every minute of today. Honestly. In the commentary box, we’ve enjoyed ourselves. However, in general, I can’t tell you how many people will approach you in and around the hotels and say “thanks for coming over.” After 22 years of waiting, it has been wonderful “During the post-day show, Hussain added.

“Additionally, the cricket has been excellent. So, I had a great time and I hope we return much more frequently than we have. Pakistan is a fantastic cricketing nation, therefore I hope a lot more nations come out here,” he continued.

The ex-cricketer added that it would be a “real achievement” for England to defeat Pakistan in their own backyard.

Regarding Babar Azam‘s leadership, Nasser said: “A great captain is Babar Azam. I’m not advocating a departure from Babar. If you can’t change for the better, don’t change. He has been out-captained in this series by Ben Stokes. He has taken initiative. He frequently switches bowlers, and he is not afraid to think outside the box.

Added him: “Babar frequently keeps his fielders out. When Harry Brook moved from 49 to 51, there was a top-edge sweep, and Faheem Ashraf was right on the boundary. The catch would have been made if Stokes had him at 20 yards.”

Abrar Ahmed finally secured the breakthrough for Pakistan by capturing Crawley in front of the wickets following an exciting opening stand of 93 runs. Seven fours helped the right-run-a-ball hander’s total of 41.

After hitting 10 runs, Rehan Ahmed, who was brought in as a night watchman, became Abrar’s second wicket.

At the end of play, Ben Duckett and Ben Stokes were both unbeaten on 50 and 10 runs, respectively.
