Zimbabwe to face West Indies in two Tests in Bulawayo
Two Test matches against Zimbabwe will open the West Indies men’s team’s 2023 international campaign. The Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo will serve as the venue for the visitors’ two games.
The first Test is scheduled for February 4–8, and the second Test is scheduled for February 12–16, according to the schedule announced on Wednesday by Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC). West Indies will play a local team in a four-day warm-up match from January 28 to January 31 at Bulawayo Athletic Club before to the two-Test rubber.
Cricket at CWI Director Jimmy Adams stated: “The early 2023 tour to Zimbabwe will play a significant role in our 2023 Test schedule, which also includes matches against South Africa and India. After achieving some encouraging results early in 2022, the team would be anxious to start the year in Zimbabwe with great performances.” Zimbabwe’s last Test match was played in July 2021 at Harare against Bangladesh, and the nation would be eager to make the most of the next series, according to ZC Director of Cricket Hamilton Masakadza.
According to Masakadza, “We are happy to confirm that the West Indies will be visiting us for two Test matches that will be played in Bulawayo.”
Despite the fact that it has been some time since our last Test match, our players will be eager and prepared for some red-ball action, and I predict an interesting series against one of the best teams in the world. Queens Sports Club also hosted the final Test Series between Zimbabwe and the West Indies in October 2017. After winning the first game by 117 runs and drawing the second game, West Indies prevailed to win the two-game series.
