Mickey Arthur, a former head coach of Pakistan, is set to return to working with the national squad.

Within two weeks, the management committee of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will complete the contract with Arthur, according to sources.

Arthur is anticipated to begin teaching till the ICC World Cup this year, which is slated to take place in India. Reliable sources informed The Jang that Arthur will only be accessible for a limited number of tasks on the ground. For this year’s 50-over mega-event in India, the former coach has promised PCB that he will travel with the team. He will continue to serve as a full-time coach for Derbyshire County Cricket Club in the interim.

Arthur’s contract will be a first because the management team of the PCB, led by Najam Sethi, wants to hire him because of his track record with the national squad.

The South Africa-hailed coach, who guided Pakistan from 2016 to 2019, will also provide suggestions for the positions of batting and bowling coaches.

In Arthur’s absence, PCB will choose an assistant who will work with the team on the ground. The players will have access to Arthur online.

Pakistan won the 2017 Champions Trophy under Arthur’s direction, making history. Pakistan has also won 11 consecutive T20I series.
