Mitchell Santner, an all-around player for New Zealand, has explained why his team defeated Pakistan in the second One-Day International on Wednesday at the National Bank Cricket Arena in Karachi.

Thanks to a standout bowling effort and a partnership between Devon Conway and Kane Williamson, New Zealand defeated the Men in Green by a margin of 79 runs.

The victory, according to Santner, who contributed 37 runs and a wicket for the Kiwis, was due to their bowling.

“I believe the pitch turned a little more. We bowled well as a group. It was nice to take two wickets in the powerplay and then break the Rizwan-Babar partnership, which we couldn’t do in the first game. We were able to get wickets at critical times to help them increase their run rate “In a post-match press conference, the all-rounder stated.

Babar and Rizwan put on a 55-run third-wicket stand, but Santner broke the partnership when he bowled the wicket-keeper batter, reducing Pakistan to 64-3.

During the match, the visitors bowled 30 overs with their spinners and chose to bat first.

When asked if New Zealand had read the wicket before fielding three spinners, he replied, “Yes, we did.” “It most likely spun a little faster than we anticipated. The ball spun more as it grew older in the second inning. I believe the plan was to use three spinners and bowl second. We were hoping for 280-300 runs, but only got 260. We knew we had to bowl well in pairs, and we never gave up easy boundaries against some really good bowlers “He stated.

On Friday, the two teams will square off in the series finale at the same venue.

“It’s obviously nice to win this game, but we know it’s on another wicket, which may or may not be similar. We are unsure. Pakistan are a good team, so it’s nice to have a series decider “The 30-year-old went on to say.
