Sikandar Raza of Lahore Qalandars was disappointed after his team’s loss to Karachi Kings on Sunday in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL).

Raza, who is from Zimbabwe, is optimistic that his team will recover in the upcoming matches.

“We’re hurt and disappointed, but we’ll try to make amends in the next game,” Raza told Qalandars’ Digital.

“To be a champion, you must defeat everyone. It’s not just that we need to beat Karachi or any other team. “If we want to be champions, we need to win the majority of our matches,” he added.

Raza also discussed areas for improvement ahead of Qalandars’ remaining matches.

“I think 185 was under par because I don’t think the match got ahead of us,” he explained. “I believe the lesson to be learned is that if we can manage the middle [of the innings] well, we will have enough power to win the match at the end if we can keep the run-rate close to the required rate.”

Lahore, the defending champion, has two points after two games and is currently at the bottom of the standings.

It should be noted that Karachi defeated Lahore by 67 runs to claim their first PSL 8 victory.

When Kings were given the opportunity to bat first, they set a challenging 186-run target before dismissing Qalandars for 118 runs in 17.3 overs.

Imad Wasim, the captain, struck in his final over after Akif Javed took two wickets to give Kings the upper hand over Qalandars.

Tahir Baig and Kamran Ghulam led the run-chase after Aamer Yamin and Mohammad Amir gave the Kings two early victories.

However, the young bowler Akif, who was brought in to fill in for an injured Mir Hamza, struck twice in his third over, sending the two batters back to the pavilion and setting his team up for victory.

On March 19, the PSL 8 final and closing ceremony will take place in Lahore, which will also serve as the site of the playoffs.

In addition to receiving the Supernova Trophy, the victor will also receive a check for Rs120 million, while the losers will each receive a check for Rs48 million.
