Wahab Riaz received playful punch from Babar Azam
Babar Azam, the captain and star batter for Pakistan, has made a playful joke at Wahab Riaz, the interim sports minister for Punjab and a colleague on the Peshawar Zalmi.
Mohsin Naqvi, the interim Chief Minister of Punjab, announced the appointment of the PSL’s top wicket-taker with 103, and he will hold that position till Punjab holds provincial elections.
The Zalmi captain revealed on the PCB Podcast that he will control the pacer during the next Pakistan Super League season (PSL).
“I am overjoyed that Wahab Bhai has been named minister. He has a great deal of T20 expertise. “However, I’ll have to keep the minister in line,” Azam joked.
“During bowling, he occasionally gets too excited and loses control of his line. As a result, I must provide him with regular doses of advice,” he continued.
It should be noted that Azam has the most runs (2,413) in the tournament’s history and is eager to break into the league this year.
“Because of the competitive aspect of the PSL, each edition is quite thrilling for me. “Every year, the guys with whom you share the Pakistan dressing room all year become your opponents,” he explained.
“A new franchise, and a new season, this PSL edition holds great significance for me and I am looking forward to having a successful start in this adventure.
“Sharing the locker room with different players throughout – one season with Islamabad United and six seasons with Karachi Kings – has helped me a lot. When you connect with other players, you learn a lot about their thinking, training regimen, and how they handle different situations.
“It is a dream for me to hit a century in the PSL as I already have two T20I hundreds and a few more in different tournaments. I’m optimistic about reaching the three-figure threshold in this PSL, and I’m hoping for a big score shortly.”
The PSL 8 opening ceremony will take place in Multan on February 13 before the tournament’s first match between the defending champions Lahore Qalandars and the 2021 champion Multan Sultans; the closing ceremony and final will take place on March 19 in Lahore, which will also host play-offs.
