Wasim Akram, a former captain of Pakistan’s cricket team, stated during his visit to Riyadh this week that he is “looking forward” to establishing a cricket league in Saudi Arabia.

After meeting with Prince Saud bin Mishal, the head of the Saudi Arabian Cricket Federation, to discuss the sport’s future in the Kingdom, the Pakistani bowler made the comment.

Following a recent improvement in cricket relations between the two nations, Akram is in Pakistan.

Owner of the Peshawar Zalmi squad in the Pakistan Super League, Javed Afridi, revealed last month that his group would compete in exhibition games in Saudi Arabia.

Najam Sethi, the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board, also stated last month that Pakistan is prepared to share its knowledge of the game with the Kingdom, where it is becoming increasingly popular.

This past week, Akram posted on Facebook, saying, “What a trip to Riyadh.” Had a wonderful meeting with H.H. Saud (bin) Mishal, and we discussed cricket in Saudi Arabia. We are eager to (establish) a Saudi league very soon, insha Allah.
