CHRISTCHURCH: After losing their final four wickets on the second morning of the first Test, Sri Lanka was all out for 355 against New Zealand on Friday.

In a Test that Sri Lanka must win in order to maintain their chances of winning the World Test Championship, the tail-order held off the New Zealand assault in Christchurch for more than 17 overs, including 12 with the new ball.
Before Tim Southee entered the attack and had Dhananjaya de Silva caught behind for 46, the overnight duo of Dhananjaya de Silva and Kasun Rajitha scored 11 off the first over of the morning.
When the new ball was called, New Zealand realised the game was about to end when Matt Henry caught Rajitha at mid-off for 22.

Jayasuriya was eventually caught behind by Henry for 13, enabling Kumara (13 not out) and Asitha Fernando (10) to combine for further 19 runs off 26 pitches to secure the winning wicket.

Southee finished with five for 64 for New Zealand, and Henry had four for 80.
