The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has postponed the upcoming first-class Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, which was initially set to commence on October 20, according to the sources.

The tournament, a key event in the country’s domestic cricket calendar, now faces uncertainty as final arrangements for the current season remain unresolved. Sources within the PCB indicated that the board’s domestic department is awaiting approval from chairman Mohsin Naqvi on several crucial issues, including the new dates for the tournament. An announcement regarding the revised schedule is expected soon.

This postponement marks another disruption in the PCB’s domestic calendar; the Under-19 domestic tournament was previously suspended after just one day of play.

In light of these developments, the domestic department has instructed departmental teams to prepare for the Presidents Trophy, a backup tournament in case of further delays to the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy. “As a contingency, departments have been asked to be prepared,” a source stated.

The Presidents Trophy, which is a first-class tournament for departmental teams, is currently scheduled to begin on January 6. Should the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy experience additional delays, insiders suggest that the PCB may prioritize the Presidents Trophy instead.
