Liverpool CEO Billy Hogan said that the club has gathered almost 5000 complaints from its fans regarding the mayhem on the night of the Champions League Final between The Reds and Real Madrid.

Police used tear gas and pepper spray on the fans waiting in long lines at the Stade de France to witness the most awaited Final. This created chaos among the fans.

The chaos led to a 35-minute delay in the game.

Staff at the preliminary security checkpoints outside the stadium detected up to 70% of tickets to be fake, as per French interior minister Gerald Darmanin.

However, sources within UEFA and the French football federation told AFP on Tuesday that only 2,800 fake tickets were identified at the stadium’s entrance gates, indicating that the issue was more about controlling fan movements outside the stadium.

UEFA initially blamed the issues on the late arrival of fans, which led to some supporters being crushed, before later making the announcement accusing fake tickets before the match that Real Madrid won 1-0.

Fans and independent journalists have frequently questioned the official account of events on social media.

Hogan has now urged UEFA to include evidence submitted by Liverpool fans on the Merseyside club’s website in their independent investigation.

“The form has been on our website for just over 24 hours and we have had over 5,000 forms completed and submitted, which is really astounding,” Hogan told Liverpool’s website.

“Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to submit their experiences.

“I’m horrified by the way some men, women, children — some able-bodied, some less able-bodied – have been indiscriminately treated over the course of Saturday.”

He added: “I think we’ve all seen videos, photos, I’ve read a number of stories of absolutely horrific experiences leaving the stadium as well — crimes being committed, muggings taking place.

“Nobody should experience what our fans experienced both before or after the match.

“In our minds, obviously this is wholly unacceptable.”

Hogan said Liverpool was attempting to support fans who were most affected by the unrest before and after the game.

“We’re aware there were many fans who were injured on Saturday evening and we’ve asked UEFA for their match day log, which includes any medical incidents for the night, so we can reach out to those supporters and families to help if we can,” he said.
