Orders for Boeing Co. and Airbus SE jets from Farnborough International Airshow opener Delta Air Lines Inc. have prompted sales teams from competing aircraft manufacturers to scramble to seal deals worth at least $21 billion in advance of the industry’s largest trade show.

The expo outside of London will display billions of dollars in aircraft trades.

It will also discuss logistical meltdowns and labour shortages that have slowed industry productivity. The UK’s heatwave will focus on sustainability.

Delta is set to buy 130 Boeing 737 Max 10s following years of talks, increasing the last and largest narrow-body aircraft. Delta plans to buy 12 Airbus A220s.

130 737 Max 10s and 12 A220s are expected to be ordered.

Malaysia Airlines might spend $10 billion on 30 Airbus A330neos. Bloomberg News reported earlier this month that Airbus had the Southeast Asian carrier. Airbus may sell LOT Polish Airlines 60 A220s.

Insiders say Condor Flugdienst GmbH may order 40 A320neo planes this week.

Airbus ignores rumours. “We communicate with customers often.” It said talks are private. Silent Condor.

Airline purchases are still being negotiated with both manufacturers. Jet Airways India Ltd. is choosing between  A320neo and A220 aircraft, Boeing’s 737 Max, and Embraer SA jets. Royal Air Maroc must replace certain 737s with Airbus or Boeing planes.

After hours, Jet Airways and Royal Air Maroc didn’t comment.

The display may help Boeing maintain equilibrium with Airbus. In the recent decades, European planemakers have dominated the narrow-body class.

Boeing is battling with 787 Dreamliner quality, Max 10 certification, and 737 Max sales after two crashes.

Airbus struggles to manufacture 75 A320neo planes a month by 2025. By May’s end, CEO Guillaume Faury said, 20 gliders couldn’t be transported.

Before the UK event, several customers made banner announcements. China’s top airlines have ordered 290 A320neo jets for $37 billion.
