FIFA 23 will premiere on Stadia September 30.
Google Stadia fans have been waiting for new big-name titles for what seems like an eternity, and now we get the second in weeks. It’s like waiting for a bus and then seeing two. FIFA 23 is the final EA football game to hold that moniker. FIFA 23 will premiere on Stadia September 30, or three days early for Ultimate Edition owners.
Recently, EA’s relationship with Google Stadia hasn’t been bad. FIFA 22 and Madden 22 are already on the platform, as is Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order, which is one of the best games ever made. You can also find GRID Legends and Dirt 5, two big games from EA’s racing division, Codemasters. However, the latest F1 game never came out.
In any case, this is about FIFA 23, and at least on paper, it’s good news for players on Stadia. They will work perfectly with the Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC, and players on the Xbox One and PS4 will be put in the same group. This should mean that there will be a lot of multiplayer action, but it looks like cross-play will only work with FUT. FUT stands for FIFA Ultimate Team, which is also known as EA’s money-making mode. So of course they want you to play that one. But it does mean you can play games with a friend on a PS5 while using your Android phone.
Women’s football gets its greatest FIFA boost ever. EA is using the FIFA license while it still can to include men’s and women’s World Cup modes. The Barclay’s Women’s Super League and Division 1 Arkema will both debut in FIFA.
FIFA 23 costs $60 or the equivalent in your area. The $20 Ultimate Edition includes three days of early access. FIFA 23 is pre-orderable on Stadia and other sites.
