Instagram launched Reels for short videos.
Instagram announced today that short videos will be uploaded as Reels. Videos uploaded before the modification won’t become Reels. This adjustment was tested for a few weeks and will be made permanent soon. Instagram claims the move will provide a more immersive, full-screen experience. The business is also merging the video and Reels sections on user profiles to create a single video hub.
If your account is public and you publish a video that becomes a Reel, anybody may use your original audio to build their own Reel. Private accounts just let followers to see your Reel. If your account is public, anybody may remix your posted Reel. In your account options, you may prohibit Reels remixes.
The update may frustrate some users. A horizontal video submitted in Reels format may be difficult to publish.
Instagram has been hinting at intentions to streamline video on the service, so the move isn’t surprising. Last year, Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri indicated the business will concentrate on video and Reels. He also implied that Instagram might concentrate all of its video offerings around Reels and increase the short-form product, suggesting this was always the intention.
Instagram also revealed new methods to create and share Reels. The social media giant introduces a “dual” tool that allows users record content and response. Using Instagram’s Dual function, you may record using both your phone’s front and rear cameras.
