Mohabbat Tujhe Alvida actress is now working on a new project ‘Saraab’ in which she plays the role of a schizophrenic patient.
She recently shared a post of her upcoming drama and listed various symptoms of schizophrenic patient experiences. However, she mentioned ‘autism’ as one of the symptoms of schizophrenia.
Sonya received criticism as a fan commented that she is the mother of two autistic children and autism is a disorder. “Autism is not a mental illness, it is a disorder”.
To this, Sonya replied, “It is one of the symptoms in schizophrenia”.
Social media users slammed her on her ‘ill-informed’ comment. However, she finally took to Instagram and gave her stance.
She announced that she will coordinate with a qualified expert on mental health soon. “To calibrate my knowledge and discuss the subject further, I will go on my social media soon with a qualified expert on mental health and wellness.”
