German radio station Bayern 3 has become a top trending topic on Twitter as a host allegedly compared the Korean band BTS to coronavirus.
Bavarian radio station Bayern 3 is facing a backlash as a presenter named Matuschik gave negative opinions about the band’s cover of Coldplay’s “Fix You”.
According to details, Matuschik compared the band to coronavirus, describing them as “some crappy virus that hopefully there will be a vaccine for soon as well.”
“These little a**holes brag about the fact they covered ‘Fix You’ from Coldplay, this is blasphemy,” he said, adding, “For this, you will be vacationing in North Korea for the next 20 years!”
However, Matuschik mentioned that his comments were not aimed at South Korea, “You can’t accuse me of xenophobia,” he said. “I have a car from South Korea. I have the coolest car ever.”
Matuschik’s comments outraged the Army. Hashtags #Bayern3Apologize and #Bayern3Racist are trending on Twitter.
Here is how the Army reacted:
At a time of anti-Asianness it’s not only deplorable but dangerous for someone like Matthias Matuschik to liken COVID to a South Korean group like BTS. This only incites hate, violence to Asians from various backgrounds. This is disgusting @bayern3 the world is watching.

In light of the rise of anti-Asian incidents, Matthias Matuschik’s racist remarks about the Korean group BTS should not excused in any way @bayern3. What he said shouldn’t be tolerated. @GermanyinKorea @korembge#Bayern3Apologize #Bayern3Racist#RassismusBeiBayern3

Looking down on and mocking people and their origin are racist. Expressing that these are only one’s opinions and passing accountability to people who took offense come from a racist mentality.
