Fawzia Mirza, a Pakistani-Canadian director, is ready to make a full-length movie and has chosen “brilliant South Asian trailblazers” to lead the cast. Nimra Bucha, who was in Ms. Marvel, Amrit Kaur, who was in The Sex Lives of College Girls, and Hamza Haq, who was in Transplant, make up the shining trio of Me, My Mom & Sharmila.

On Thursday, she talked about her upcoming project and shared the news by reposting a Variety article about her film on Instagram. “My first movie as a director, Me, My Mom & Sharmila, with Amrit Kaur, Hamza Haq, and Nimra Bucha, was based on my one-person play with the same name. I can’t say enough about how happy I am with this cast and how proud I am of my amazing producing team, without whom I wouldn’t be here.” She thanked the producers and writers, naming each one by name and saying, “It takes a village.”

Bucha re-shared Fawzia’s Instagram story with the same screenshot of the Variety feature and added, “So happy!”
