It was more than just a drama; Humsafar was a phenomenon. New superstars emerged from the Pakistani entertainment sector, the drama industry’s terrain saw a dramatic upheaval, and a new era of television was inaugurated. Following the enormous success of Humsafar, Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan became overnight sensations. Since then, neither has turned back, and everyone still remembers the drama’s scenes as well as the chemistry between the protagonists.
The season’s main drama, Mere Humsafar, features Hamza and Hala, whose chemistry on television will undoubtedly remind viewers of Ashar and Khirad. However, many people believed that Mere Humsafar looked overly influenced by the events and plot of Humsafar, and certain sequences appeared to be outright copies, such as the famous scene in which Farhan, playing the role of Hamza, opens Hala, played by Hania Aamir.
Saira Razawa, the author of Mere Humsafar, was a guest on Fuchsia and spoke about the accusations that Humsafar was plagiarised. She said that both Qasim Ali Mureed, the director, and the actors Farhan and Hania had not watched Humsafar. Although she had watched it, she did not give the similarities any thought when she penned the scenes. Even in the opening hair sequence, where Hamza was supposed to tie Hala’s hair, the scene was changed because it did not fit with Hamza’s demeanour. She concluded that everything was therefore merely a coincidence. Even the drama’s name underwent numerous changes before the channel settled on Mere Humsafar.
