19 Year Thailand Boy Engages 56 Year Woman, Controversy: Pics

‘Love knows no reason, no limits, no distance,’ they say. A teenage boy and a grandmother got engaged in Thailand despite their 37-year age difference, creating international headlines. Wuthichai Chantaraj, now 19, met his now-fiancée Janla Namuangrak, 56 when he was 10 years old. Wuthichai was Janla’s neighbour in the northeast Thai province of Sakhon Nakhon, according to the sources.

Namuangrak had asked Chantaraj for help cleaning her house, and the two became friends while working together on chores. Despite their 37-year age difference, the couple later began dating and have already been together for two years. Wuthichai stated that he wanted to ensure that someone was “first time in his life” “living comfortably.”

“I have been with Janla for two years now. It’s the first time in my life I felt like I wanted to make sure someone was living comfortably,” also known by his nickname Tung, as stating. “I saw her shabby house and found myself thinking of ways to help her live in a better condition. She is a hardworking woman and also honest. I admire her.”

Meanwhile, the couple is unconcerned with their age difference and is not afraid to exhibit affection in public or during interviews. When they go out on dates in town, they plant kisses on each other and hold hands. Janla, a divorcee with three children in their thirties, says Wuthichai helps her “feel young again.”

The grandmother said, “Wuthichai has been like a superhero for me. He helped me every day. Then when he was older we started to have feelings for each other. I was surprised because I have known him since he was child.” They intend to marry in the near future.
