T20 World Cup 2022, India vs. Pakistan: Sunday’s Group 2 encounter between India and Pakistan is scheduled to take place at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), even if it means a rain-shortened game for the subcontinental rivalry on October 23. Here are some of the most memorable ads from the “Mauka Mauka” promotional campaign, which is now permanently archived in history.
Media Sources made standalone advertising for the India-Pakistan match during the 2015 World Cricket Cup. However, when the jingle “Mauka Mauka” became popular among supporters, it was used in a series of advertisements for all subsequent World Cup matches between the long-standing South Asian rivals.
The first ad depicts a teenage Pakistan cricket fan’s seemingly never-ending wait from March 1992 to the 2015 World Cup to explode the firecrackers he had stored in the expectation that Pakistan would defeat India in the 50-over World Cup. Over the years, all of India’s matches against Pakistan had ended in defeat – an agonising run of 5-0 in favour of the Blues until the 2011 World Cup. Out of annoyance, the fan, who is now married with a child, asks his son, “Kab phodenge yaar?”
The emotional Cricket fan could be seen making a video message begging former captain Shahid Afridi to bring the 2016 T20 World Cup home in the next ad. After all, Pakistan failed to win a single match against India in the flagship ICC competition.
The subject for the highly anticipated game at the 12th Cricket World Cup was a change from the series of Mauka Mauka advertising and centred around Father’s Day — a great analogue for an India vs. Pakistan match because the two events coincided on June 16, 2019.

Mauka Mauka made a final appearance in a promo featuring the “friendly banter” between the Maukaman and Lovely Paaji, just before the T20 World Cup 2022. To establish each side’s dominance, the fans engage in a nicknaming contest.
India’s 10-wicket loss to Pakistan in their most recent T20 World Cup 2021 meeting has been cited as the reason marketers have discontinued the Mauka Mauka campaign, which primarily focused on the three-time ICC World Cup champions’ winning streak against their arch-rivals.
The India-Pakistan head-to-head record in the ICC T20 World Cup is presently 5-1.
