Can a Pillow prevent you from Snoring? Visitors to the recent CES 2023 in Las Vegas may have seen an unusually connected pillow that promises to substantially reduce snoring by gradually shifting a person’s head position while sleeping.

Every year’s CES features a slew of consumer electronics breakthroughs, from self-driving strollers to cable-free TVs, and the 2023 edition was no exception. A pillow meant to lessen the noise created by snoring at night was one of the most startling, but no less beneficial, goods are seen at the expo.

This brilliant concept is the most recent iteration of a product that seems to have already shown its value, and it was developed by South Korean start-up 10minds. The structure of the gadget is four inflatable cushions inserted inside a pillow. Depending on where the user’s head is and how they move it, these can be used to elevate the head and help it align with the rest of the body to aid in opening the airways. A tiny machine placed on the bedside table detects snoring sounds and remotely activates the operation of these internal air cushions.

When the pillow is connected, a companion mobile application receives a wealth of useful data. The user will be able to find out how long they have been snoring and the number of manoeuvres that took place during the night.

The Motion Pillow is available in South Korea for 870,000 won, the equivalent of around US$700. In its product announcement, 10minds compares the noise of a snorer to that of a riotous heavy metal concert and states that so far nearly 94% of users of this pillow have noted, via their application, a significant decrease in the duration and volume of their snoring. Sweet dreams!
