Malala Yousafzai, recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize, made her début with her husband Asser Malik at the 95th Academy Awards at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. Malala, who is the executive producer of the Oscar-nominated short documentary Stranger at the Gate, attended the event while wearing a hooded sequined gown.

As during ceremony, host Jimmy Kimmel approached Malala Yousafzai and said,“Great to have you here. Congratulations on your movie. ”  He then read aloud a fan question, which elicited awkward laughter from the audience. Malala handled the question expertly, and her response has gone viral.

“Treat people with kindness,” Malala tweeted, with a victory hand emoticon. The video tweeted by Malala captures Oscars host Jimmy Kimmel asking her a question from a viewer from New York. “As the youngest Nobel Prize winner in history, I was wondering, do you think Harry Styles spit on Chris Pine?” To this, Malala gave an epic response saying she only talks about peace. “I only talk about peace,” Malala says.

The topic of the inquiry was #spitgate, a social media uproar caused by a video that went viral showing Harry Styles visibly “spitting” on Chris Pine, his Don’t Worry, Darling co-star, at the 2022 Venice Film Festival. Chris Pine and Harry Styles have both commented on the matter.

The tweet has had more than 18.9 million views since Malala tweeted it a day ago, and that number is still growing. Internet users have also responded in a frenzy.
