UK’s “craziest Christmas lights” return in 2022
Britain’s “craziest Christmas lights” will return this year despite rising energy and living costs. Bromsgrove-based Malcolm and Wendy Molloy promise to keep their home bright and “bring joy” to the region.
Despite rising UK utility rates, the pair will continue their iconic Christmas installation, which made the Worcestershire home a Christmas destination, BirminghamLive reported.
The pair admits that the cost of living has forced them to replace one constant illumination. That significant adjustment will shorten the lights’ hours, ending Christmas lights earlier than normal. With LED lights, the couple cut their festive energy bill from £750 to £450, but the cost of living issue will raise again.
The nearby Primrose Hospice will receive donations for lighting the property for charity. Malcolm and Wendy will begin their Christmas lights show on Friday, December 9, after sunset.
Malcolm, “I know the electricity prices have gone up since last year but we wanted to do carry on with the Christmas lights to cheer everyone up,” added, “You’ve got to bring joy amidst all this gloom at the moment and people love coming to see the lights.
“The only difference will be that I’ll set timers for slightly less hours this year but there will still be plenty of time for everyone to enjoy them.”
For 20 years, the couple has decorated their home, raising thousands of pounds for charity.
