A 1940s beach shot purportedly proves time travel. It shows hundreds of Brits relaxing on the beach after World War II. Among the many sunbathers, one seemed to be from a different time.

In September 1943, families relaxed on Cornwall’s beaches, when an imposter appeared. A standing brown-suited man looks at a smartphone, far from the 1940s. Social media users debated his preoccupations.

He was dubbed “texting time traveller” because the image showed him browsing through his phone. Others dismissed the claims as “crazy” and said he was rolling a cigarette. Some social media users said the Towan Beach, Newquay photo proved “time travel is real”.

“Er…is it just me or is this guy checking his phone…..in the 1940s?” one comment read.

“Shows beachwear has changed!” said another. Jacket, tie, hat? I remember that from the 1950s.”

Third: “Good catch. It’s clearly the man in the shot is a time travelling tourist checking his mobile device.

“Finally the evidence we need that time travel is real.”

But the theory was rebuffed by one user who said: “I think that chap is rolling a cigarette!”
Other historic photos have stirred time travel believers in recent weeks.

Some observers said 1938 footage found by The Mirror proved time travel was genuine.

One young woman holds something to her head in walking toward the camera clip. Conspiracy theorists claimed the woman was filmed talking on the cell phone decades before its invention. With one palm clamped to her head, the woman chats as she passes through the mob. Before the film concludes, she lowers it.

The woman, dressed in fashionable 30s attire, lowers the object from her ear, revealing a dark hand-sized item like a modern cell phone. One YouTuber claimed the woman in the photo was their great-grandmother and was using a cellphone, deepening the mystery.

Planetcheck on YouTube claims that Dupont’s Leominster factory built the divide’s experimental wireless phone.
