Gruesome discovery and alleged actions
A 35-year-old filmmaker, Samuel Haskell IV, was arrested by the authorities in connection with a human torso found in a mall dumpster. Haskell, the son of a well-known Hollywood executive, lived in Tarzana with his wife Mei Li Haskell (37) and her parents Gaoshan Li (72) and Yanxiang Wang (64). Concerns arose when the trio was last seen around November 6.
According to The New York Post, prosecutors shared disturbing details suggesting Haskell hired workers to remove heavy trash bags from his home, which allegedly contained the dismembered remains of the victims.
When one worker found human body parts in a bag, they informed the authorities. Despite Haskell trying to retrieve the bags and offering money to the workers, the evidence was gone by the time the police arrived.

Unfolding evidence and arrest
Video footage showed Haskell throwing things into a dumpster about five miles away from his fancy home in Tarzana. Later, a woman’s torso, believed to be Mei Li, was found in the trash, leading to Haskell’s arrest, even though the remains were not officially identified yet.
Deputy District Attorney Beth Silverman pointed out strong evidence from Haskell’s house suggesting that the victims were brutally cut up, allowing for murder charges even though the full bodies weren’t found.
