Geoffrey Holt, a New Hampshire citizen known for his unfurnished mobile home lifestyle, stunned his small community of Hinsdale with an extraordinary act of charity. Holt, who died on June 6, 2023, at the age of 82, left behind a $3.8 million secret wealth, which he gave to his close-knit community.
Holt was born on March 27, 1941, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Dr. Lee Holt and Margaret Holt. Both parents, who died in 2004, made substantial contributions to education and art therapy. Despite his multimillionaire status, Holt led a humble life in his village of 4,200 people on the border of Vermont and Massachusetts.
Holt served in the United States Navy before pursuing schooling and a career in a variety of disciplines, including teaching and administrative positions at Agway Corporation. He had a close relationship with his lifelong partner, Thelma E. Parker, who died in 2017. Holt, who never married and had no children of his own, was adored by Parker’s four children.
Holt’s generous deed demonstrates his dedication to the community since he holds a bachelor’s degree from Marlboro College and a master’s degree from American International College. His gift will help Hinsdale in the areas of education, health, recreation, and culture. Despite his significant significance, Geoffrey Holt does not have a Wikipedia page.
