Karachi Weather | Met office predicts heavy rains in Karachi, more downpours and thunderstorms on Saturday, the Metrological department has made prediction after torrential rain lashed several parts of the city on Friday.

The Met department said: “Rain clouds present in the southeastern side of Arabian sea are moving towards the metropolitan.”

Few hours of rain drowned the city once again and caused waterlogging and traffic jams on multiple roads.

Heavy rains in Karachi lead to water-logging, power cut

On Friday morning, heavy rain was reported in different parts of the city including Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, University Road, Malir, Landhi, Shahra-e-Faisal, Sakhi Hassan, I. I. Chundrigar Road, Saddar and other areas.

On the other hand, as soon as the rains started, as per tradition, the power outage was reported in many areas.

K-Electric, the company that supplies electricity to the city, tweeted on its social networking site that reports of moderate to heavy rains are being received from various parts of the city. Electric staff are monitoring the situation, while a few feeders Can be closed on security grounds.

K Electric spokesman Imran Rana said in a tweet that K-Electric teams are fully mobilized in view of the rain forecast, however, due to the accumulation of water in the low-lying areas, the power supply may be temporarily cut off due to precautionary measures.

Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has forecast rain with strong winds and thundershowers in Sindh and eastern Balochistan.

According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rains are expected in some parts of Sindh, while the weather will remain dry and humid in other parts of the country.

The department said that the air humidity in Karachi is 75%, the northwest winds are 11 km per hour, while the minimum temperature is 28.5 degrees Celsius and the maximum is 35 to 37 degrees Celsius.
