Weather update; rains likely in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Pakistan
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecasts cold and dry weather for Islamabad and most of Pakistan on Tuesday night, Wednesday, and Thursday. The current weather pattern shows continental air prevailing over the country, with a slight westerly wave expected to impact northeastern Balochistan and southern Punjab in the next 24 hours.
Under these conditions, Islamabad and many parts of the country will experience mainly cold and dry weather, with freezing temperatures in the upper regions during the specified period. However, there’s a chance of rain, wind-thunderstorms, and snowfall in isolated areas of northeast Balochistan and southern Punjab in the evening/night. Some areas in Punjab may also experience shallow fog during morning and night hours.
In Islamabad, minimum temperatures are expected to range from 00-02 degrees Celsius on Wednesday and -01-01 degree Celsius on Thursday.
Over the last 24 hours, much of the country had cold and partly cloudy weather. Shallow fog was observed in a few plain areas of Punjab, and there was rain/snowfall in Rawalakot and Murree.
Notably, Kalam recorded the lowest temperature in the country, dropping to 14 degrees Celsius below freezing. In Islamabad, the minimum temperature was 02 degrees Celsius, with a morning relative humidity of 92 percent.
