After being left inside a car for ‘several hours’ in 37°C heat, a five-year-old youngster died.

On Monday afternoon, police hurried to the location in Harris County, Texas, where the kid was pronounced deceased.

His mother had returned home with him and his eight-year-old sister earlier that day after running errands for a birthday celebration.

It has been reported that as she and her daughter went inside, she accidentally left the small boy in the car.

Sheriff Ed Gonzales of Harris County told Fox29: ‘They were enthralled by the prospect of getting everything ready.’

‘They got out of the car and walked inside to finish their preparations.’ ‘The mother and the other sibling went inside.’ After a couple of hours – maybe two or three – the mother realized her five-year-old was missing and began yelling for him, but there was no response.

‘She dashed outside and saw him still belted in his car seat, still in position,’ she said.

Investigators also discovered that the toddler was capable of exiting the vehicle on his own.

Sheriff Gonzales, on the other hand, suggested that he may have been asleep and become disoriented due to the heat, and confirmed that the youngster died after being left for ‘several hours.’

‘Precinct 3 units were ordered to the 13700 block of Blair Hill Ln,’ he added earlier on Twitter. Units discovered a child (perhaps five years old) had been left inside a car for several hours when they arrived.

At the scene, the youngster was pronounced dead. Investigators from the HCSO are on their way to the scene.’

Despite the fact that it looks to be an accident, the matter will now be reviewed by the district attorney’s office.

It’s still unclear whether his mother will face prosecution.
